The LeAb Iteration Lab is my creative partnership with writer and visual artist Leah Souffrant. For the past several years we have been collaborating on performance research — making works for performance that explore the dynamics between performer and audience, the theater as a space of encounter, and silence as language. We call it the LeAb because every show is an experiment.

This spring, we are totally delighted to be working with Vermont Stage Company in the inaugural season of their Ghostlight Residency program. At a time when the arts landscape is shifting and things feel fragile, I am so proud of my local theater company for doubling-down on its commitment to the local arts ecosystem. This generous investment in local artists and experimental works is making it possible for the LeAb to extend our research and to present a new iteration of our current project to Burlington audiences — for two nights only!

This is not a play. It’s more like a dance, a ritual, a meditation. Using movement, silence, and repetition, Iteration 5: Your Attention Please asks questions about how routine shapes our lives, how everyday experience is remembered, and what it means to witness — questions to which the audience is invited to respond. The show, in part, an encounter with your own attention. You can learn more about it here.
